Productivity Tools and Application Software

How can concept mapping tools be used to address different learning styles?

As we all know all children learn differently and because of this it is hard to always reach every students' learning style. The great part about concept-mapping is that they are visual ways to think, write, and comprehend and this concept can reach every learner. Educators can use concept-mapping in their classroom to customize instruction, achieve standards, assess student progress, and energize learning. There are websites out there like Kidspiration that students can use to build graphic organziers by combining pictures, text, and spoken words to represent thoughts and information. In all, concept-mapping gives an opportunity for learning across the curriculum.

  3. I agree that concept mapping provides an opportunity for learning across the curriculum. Students are always so excited when they are able to use a program such as Kidspiration to create their own concept map. Concept maps provide teachers with the opportunity for teachers to integrate visual, audio, and kinesthetic learning in their lessons.

  4. The Kidspiration website sounds interesting. It sounds familiar, but I don't believe I have visited. I am sure kids enjoy building their own graphic organizers to make them their own.

  5. For students to be able to pick out their own graphic organizers that fit their needs and that "pop" for them is fantastic because we don't always know what is best for them or how they learn specifically if they aren't tested for it or they don't speak up.

  6. It is definitely great to combine students learning with all the technological advances because it helps students to not only learn the lesson but also to further master their skills with computers.
